Job Description
The Battery Field Service Technician will inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and replace industrial battery systems and battery-charging equipment. This position requires offshore travel by boat or helicopter and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Set float and equalize voltages on battery chargers.
- Test AC and DC voltages on battery chargers.
- Troubleshoot battery charger alarms and equipment issues.
- Replace battery charger components and complete battery charger units.
- Handle and replace VLA and VRLA batteries.
- Perform battery capacity testing using DC load banks.
- Use cell corders, hydrometers, voltmeters, and ammeters.
- Work safely with electrical systems ranging from 12 to 480 VDC.
- Travel offshore by boat or helicopter as required.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Complete accurate and timely job reports.
Qualifications
- Previous experience servicing battery systems and battery chargers.
- Experience handling and replacing VLA and VRLA batteries.
- Experience performing battery capacity testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and battery-charging equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness and ability to travel offshore.
- Current and valid driver’s license.
- Ability to successfully pass a drug screen.
- Familiarity with NEC standards and electrical codes is preferred.
