Job Description

Do you want to dive in the fast-growing industry of drones and get a rewarding experience in a dynamic scale-up environment?

At Flyability, we believe that robots should be sent into hazardous places and dangerous environments instead of humans. To support our belief, we created Elios, the world’s first collision-tolerant flying robot that can safely enter, survey, and inspect confined spaces so that people don’t have to. With more than 130 employees, Flyability is the pioneer in the UAS indoor inspection industry. Joining Flyability is not just taking on a new job; it is seizing the opportunity to improve the lives of millions of people and contribute to the future of robotics.

To complete our creative and dynamic team in Lausanne, we are seeking a:

Battery Engineer Intern (100%)
Starting date: June 1st or July 1st

Your role:

In this hands-on role, you will join the Flyability Propulsion Team, which oversees the entire drivetrain from the battery to the ducted fans. Your primary focus will be developing the power systems for our next-generation UAVs. By tackling complex energy challenges and leveraging state-of-the-art battery technology, you will help us redefine the limits of indoor drone flight.

What you will own:

  • Design and assembly of battery testing jigs and prototypes, including hardware and software
  • Running test campaigns on said prototypes and battery related components
  • Post-processing and analysing test data to suggest subsequent testing and design decisions

Requirements

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree (or pursuing) in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Good theoretical and practical electrical engineering skills. Hands-on experience with drones and batteries is a plus
  • Scientific, yet pragmatic mindset: an eye for detail, independent mindset and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Practical prototyping skills such as soldering and assembly of basic mechanical components
  • Experience designing mechanical parts and assemblies to design test jigs, ideally with Solidworks CAD software
  • Good coding skills with python and AI tools such as Cursor
  • Experience in data acquisition and data analysis
  • Very Good level of English. French or any additional language is an asset
