Job Description

The Basketball Instructor is responsible for providing engaging, high-quality instruction that teaches players the fundamentals, advanced skills, and strategies of the game. This role creates a safe, positive, and motivating environment where participants of all ages and abilities can improve their skills, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love for basketball. The instructor tailors lessons to meet individual and group needs while fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Pay Rate: 50% commission for sessions per hour.

Private Lessons:
30 minutes: $15.00
60 minutes: $30.00

Semi-Private Sessions:
Group of 2 (30 minutes): $20.00
Group of 2 (60 minutes): $35.00
Group of 3 (30 minutes): $25.00
Group of 3 (60 minutes): $40.00
Group of 4 (30 minutes): $33.34

Group Sessions:
Group of 4 (60 minutes): $67.50
Group of 5 (30 minutes): $41.67
Group of 5 (60 minutes): $85.00
Group of 6 (30 minutes): $50.00
Group of 6 (60 minutes): $100.00

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

  • Plan, organize, and deliver basketball instruction for individual lessons, group classes, and clinics.
  • Teach core skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and court awareness.
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans based on age, skill level, and participant goals.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively instruct, motivate, and engage participants and be able to communicate with parents and guardians regarding the lesson.
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence through structured drills and scrimmages.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help participants improve their performance.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by maintaining a controlled and supportive environment.
  • Assist with program development, special events, and seasonal basketball camps and leagues as needed.
  • Maintain equipment, monitor gym/court usage, and uphold club standards.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager, COO, or senior leadership.
      • This description is not all-inclusive and may evolve with Club needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate basketball skills, including running, jumping, shooting, dribbling, and defensive movements.
  • Must be able to stand, move, and remain active for extended periods of time (up to several hours).
  • Ability to lift, carry, and set up sports equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Sufficient vision, hearing, and mobility to ensure a safe environment and provide clear instruction.
  • Capability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Must be CPR/AED certified or obtain certification within 3 months of hire (training provided by the Club).

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Previous experience playing and/or coaching basketball required; collegiate-level experience a plus.
  • Strong communication, motivational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to tailor coaching techniques to various skill levels.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.

Preferred/Plus:

  • Prior coaching or teaching experience with youth, teens, and/or adults.
  • Experience in a luxury or high-end service environment with a focus on personalized guest interactions.
