GENERALSTATEMENTOFTHEFUNCTION

The Graduate Assistant for Football will support the Head Football Coach in building, recruiting, andmaintaininga competitive football program on the Raymond Campus. This role aligns with the goals of Hinds Community College and adheres to the policies and procedures outlined in the Athletic Department Handbook.

Education:Bachelor’srequired

Experience:1-2years of competitive college coaching experience.  

Certificate/License:Familiar with MACCC and NJCAA governing rules

EDUCATIONAND/OREXPERIENCE

Bachelor’sdegreerequired Admission intomaster’sdegree program. Experience asformerstudent-athlete and/or interest in college athletics. 1-2 years of coaching experience preferred.

ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES,includethefollowing.

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintainknowledgeofdiversity-relatedissues,legislation,andbestpractices.

  • Recruits, trains, and provides guidance to members of the basketball team in a manner which promotes the academic,athleticand social success of athletes and is consistent with the mission and goals of the Hinds Community College Athletic Department.

  • Represent Hinds Community College and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality.

  • Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the department and the college, as well as the rules and regulations of the NJCAA and MACCC.

  • Assistwith specific aspects of the basketballprogram; provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential.

  • Assistwith the organization and administration of the basketballprogram, including the following: recruit planning, practice and game planning, film coordination, meal planning, travel planning.

  • Assistthe head coach and assistant coaches with recruiting plans andrecruiting ofpotentialstudent-athletes

  • Assistthe head coach and assistant coaches in the scouting of opponents and in preparation of game and practice plans.

  • Assistin monitoring academic activities for each of the programs. This includes grade checks, study hall monitoring, and helping advisors.

  • Perform otherappropriate dutiesas assigned that relate to the success of the program.
