About the Role:

Join the Uwill team to support student mental health. The Basic Needs Specialist is a 1099 contractor remote position responsible for providing comprehensive virtual case management and support services to college students. The Basic Needs Specialist will work with students across various higher education institutions to assess their basic needs, develop and implement comprehensive support plans for each individual, coordinate with internal and external resources and stakeholders, and provide ongoing follow-up support to students.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assess the basic needs of security of students assigned to their caseload.

  • Meet with students virtually and develop a comprehensive Care Plan to address the needs of each student, including referrals to relevant service providers (on- and off-campus), assistance with applications, and follow-up support.

  • Provide ongoing follow-up support and coordination to ensure students are making progress towards their goals.

  • Serve as the centralized point-of-contact to facilitate students' access to public benefits, on-campus programs and community-based resources.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Master’s degree in social work or other relevant field.

  • Hold an unencumbered social work license in any state. (Associates are welcome to apply)

  • At least 2 years of experience providing client-centered case management or care in 1:1 settings.

  • Knowledge of basic needs resources, such as public benefits programs, food pantries, housing providers, financial aid, and other campus/community resources

  • Cultural competence and humility working with students of diverse identities, backgrounds and experiences

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships across campus and in the community

  • HIPAA-compliant private workspace suitable for telehealth sessions.

  • Ability to conduct meetings via Zoom on a computer or laptop running Mac OS 10.13+ or Windows 10+, with a camera, microphone, and internet speed of at least 10 Mbps.

  • Written/Oral English language proficiency (Spanish language proficiency preferred)
