Job Description
Adult Outpatient Programs provide the least restrictive level of care where adults may receive clinical interventions aimed at decreasing existing signs and symptoms. Outpatient treatment focuses on recovery, problem resolution, symptom reduction, stabilization and/or prevention of movement to a higher level of care. Treatment varies widely and depends upon the consumer’s presenting symptoms.
Responsibilities
Primary Job Functions:
Daily responsibilities:
- Assess consumers for areas in which they are experiencing deficits as determined by the DLA-20
- Instruct patients on how to improve their abilities in the deficit areas.
- Demonstrate and assist consumer in performing their tasks to evaluate comprehension.
- Educate patient on how to continue to implement the skills they have acquired.
- Maintain established institutional policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
- Collaborates with supervisor to ensure all steps needed to engage patients have been met and patient is set up for success.
- Collaborates with treatment team members and regularly provides feedback on the patient’s status.
Supervision and Consultation
- Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed.
- Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement.
Clinical Record Keeping
- Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy, within 24 hours of contact with patients.
- Documents appropriate and complete provision of services in each patient’s chart
Courteous and respectful attitudes towards consumers, visitors and co-workers
- Treats patients with care, dignity and respect
- Respects patient’s privacy and confidentiality
- Is sensitive to the patient’s needs, expectations and individual differences
Administrative and Other Related Duties as Assigned:
- Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures
- Attends required in-service training, scheduled meetings and other workshops
Physical Requirements of the Job:
- There is constant standing
- Sitting is frequent by nature and up to 5-10 minutes; however, extended sitting could be up to 1.5 to 3 hours for documentation.
- Walking for extended periods of time.
- Squatting and/or lunging frequently
- Fine manipulation for writing and handling paperwork
- Pushing and/or pulling force up to 1-5 pounds force, horizontally, to open file cabinets and place binders on bookshelves.
- Lifting various ranges from the floor to overhead with weights up to 5-15 pounds frequently, 30-40 pounds from floor occasionally, 50 pounds from floor to waist 1-2 times per day
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be at least age 23, maintain a valid verifiable driver license and maintain a clear driving record.
Knowledge in mental health service provision, outlined below, to be attained within six (6) months of employment:
- Knowledge of Basic Living Skills and how to teach them to adults with mental illness
- Knowledge of the Daily Living Activities 20 assessment
- Knowledge of appropriate ways to interact with population served
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
