Job Title: Modified Baseball Head Coach
Position Overview:
Cooperstown Central School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Modified Baseball Head Coach to lead our middle school-level baseball program. The coach will be responsible for teaching the fundamentals of the game, fostering a positive team environment, and supporting the development of young student-athletes as they begin their interscholastic sports journey.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct developmentally appropriate practices and game strategies
- Teach basic baseball skills, rules, teamwork, and sportsmanship
- Promote a fun, inclusive, and safe athletic experience
- Supervise student-athletes at all practices, games, and during team travel
- Communicate regularly with players, parents/guardians, and school staff
- Ensure all school and NYSPHSAA regulations and safety protocols are followed
- Coordinate with the JV and Varsity coaching staff to ensure consistent program philosophy and player progression
- Maintain inventory of equipment and uniforms
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Completion or willingness to complete all NYSED coaching requirements:
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- DASA Training
- Concussion Management Certification
- SAVE Training
- Fingerprint clearance through NYSED
- Preferred:
- Experience coaching baseball or working with middle school-aged students
- Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals and youth development
- Positive communication and motivational skills
- Ability to serve as a role model and mentor for young student-athletes
