Job Title: Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach
Position Overview:
Cooperstown Central School District is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach to support the head coach in leading our high school varsity baseball program. The successful candidate will be passionate about mentoring student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship, and contributing to a positive and competitive team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, drills, and game-day strategies
- Support the skill development and personal growth of student-athletes
- Help manage equipment, schedules, and team logistics
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among players
- Supervise athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities
- Assist with communication between players, parents, and school administration
- Ensure adherence to all NYSPHSAA and district athletic policies and regulations
- Be present and engaged at all practices, games, and team events
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Completion or willingness to complete NYSED coaching requirements:
- First Aid & CPR Certification
- DASA Training
- Concussion Management Training
- SAVE Training
- Fingerprint clearance through NYSED
- Preferred:
- Experience coaching baseball at the high school level or higher
- Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, rules, and training techniques
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well with student-athletes, parents, and staff
