Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Basecamp Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, coordination, and support for Tamarack Resort’s Basecamp Youth Activity Center, including guest childcare, Kid Zone, camps, and special events. This is a hands-on working leadership position responsible for supporting the planning, preparation, and implementation of engaging youth programs while actively working with children, families, and staff. The Supervisor serves as a lead and mentor to Basecamp team members, helping coordinate daily operations, prepare activities and materials, and ensure departmental standards, policies, procedures, and programming expectations are consistently carried out. Working closely with the Manager of Family Activities, the Supervisor helps create a safe, welcoming, organized, and positive experience for every child and family who visits Basecamp.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned, including weekends, evenings, events, and holiday work.
Program Development & Operations
· Assist the Manager of Family Activities with planning, developing, and implementing engaging, age-appropriate programming, including weekly themes, camps, events, Guest Childcare, and Kid Zone activities.
· Prepare activity materials, supplies, and spaces and ensure program areas are safe, clean, organized, and ready for daily operations.
· Adapt activities and programming to meet the ages, abilities, interests, and needs of participating children.
· Support daily schedules, transitions, routines, opening and closing procedures, and the overall flow of programming.
· Use available resources creatively and responsibly and communicate program, supply, equipment, and operational needs to leadership.
· Provide feedback on activities and programming and assist with identifying opportunities for improvement.
Staff Leadership & Support
· Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to Basecamp staff while remaining actively engaged in programming and working directly with children.
· Help staff understand and consistently follow departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, and expectations.
· Support staff with in-the-moment questions, problem-solving, decision-making, and daily program needs.
· Help coordinate staff responsibilities and maintain an organized, positive, and efficient daily operation.
· Model professionalism, enthusiasm, flexibility, teamwork, and positive interactions with children, families, and coworkers.
· Provide coaching and feedback when appropriate and communicate significant staffing, performance, safety, or operational concerns to the Manager of Family Activities.
Participant & Guest Experience
· Foster a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for children and families.
· Build positive relationships with children, parents, guardians, and guests while encouraging participation, creativity, exploration, active play, and positive social interactions.
· Serve as a resource to parents and guests regarding Basecamp programs, activities, and daily operations.
· Address routine questions and concerns professionally and use sound judgment to determine when additional support or escalation is needed.
· Help ensure every child and family receives a positive, consistent, and memorable Basecamp experience.
Safety & Childcare Compliance
· Ensure the safety and well-being of all children and participants.
· Follow all Tamarack Resort safety policies and procedures.
· Follow applicable childcare regulations and state requirements.
· Conduct ongoing awareness of the safety of activities, equipment, and program spaces.
· Respond appropriately to incidents and communicate significant incidents to leadership.
· Maintain required childcare training and certifications.
· Support a safe, positive, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
Event & Special Program Coordination
· Assist with planning, preparing, and coordinating special events, workshops, camps, and seasonal programs.
· Help coordinate staffing, activities, supplies, schedules, and other event logistics.
· Assist with setup, execution, and breakdown of Family Activities events.
· Work collaboratively with other Tamarack Resort departments and community partners when appropriate.
Communication, Collaboration, Decision Making Ability
· Maintain clear and professional communication with leadership, staff, parents, guests, and other Tamarack employees.
· Work collaboratively with other Family Activities staff and resort departments.
· Provide regular feedback to leadership regarding programming, staffing, guest experience, supplies, and operational needs.
· Assist with community partnerships and outreach efforts when appropriate.
· Demonstrates sound judgment and the ability to make appropriate decisions in the moment, particularly in situations involving children, families, staff, safety, and daily operations.
· Ability to quickly assess situations, identify problems, consider available options, and determine an appropriate course of action.

· Previous childcare, youth programming, recreation, education, camp, or supervisory experience preferred.
Education & experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
· Previous experience working with children or youth preferred.
· Previous supervisory, leadership, childcare, recreation, camp, or activity programming experience preferred.
· Formal or informal education and/or training in recreation, education, youth development, outdoor recreation, or related recreational programming preferred.
· Experience with computers, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office or similar software preferred.
· Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
· Experience operating or working with program equipment preferred.
Required certifications & background clearances
· Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification required, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
· Enhanced background check through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare required, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
· Annual state-required childcare training must be completed and maintained as required.
· Additional training or certifications may be required based on program, licensing, or departmental needs.
Language skills
· Fluent in English.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and appropriately with children, parents, guests, and coworkers.
Mathematical skills
· Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
· Ability to accurately handle basic program-related calculations, counts, schedules, and inventory.
