We are seeking a dedicated Bartender to join our dynamic team at The Deep End Tap located within Eastland Suites Hotel and Conference Center. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a seamless operation in our kitchen while also providing food and beverage service to maximize customer satisfaction by providing friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional service to all guests. The role involves a variable schedule that may include afternoon and evening shifts, as well as some weekend hours based on operational needs.

General Summary:

Provide food and beverage service to maximize customer satisfaction by providing friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional service to all guests in the Deep End Tap.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve banquet and special event functions
  • Serve beverages to hotel guests in accordance with service standards
  • Ensure proper and adequate bar setup prior to events
  • Stock beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice, and produce based on daily function projections
  • Prepare, cut, store, and maintain fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables to ensure product quality and freshness
  • Greet guests in a courteous and professional manner
  • Mix, garnish, and present beverages using standardized recipes while practicing proper portion control
  • Verify guest identification, manage payment methods, and serve alcohol in compliance with State, Federal, and corporate liquor regulations
  • Communicate courteously and effectively with supervisors and co-workers at all times

Supporting Functions:

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.

  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by the supervisor to meet health and safety standards
  • Respond to special guest requests and assist with additional service needs
  • Adhere strictly to all Federal, State, and Corporate regulations regarding the service of alcohol to minors and intoxicated guests
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager or Supervisor

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service, including alcoholic beverages and applicable liquor laws
  • Working knowledge of proper beverage service techniques
  • Understanding of appropriate table settings, service ware, and menu items
  • Ability to follow supervisor instructions accurately and completely
  • Ability to read, speak, and write English sufficiently to understand menus, promotions, guest requests, and service instructions
  • Ability to memorize and accurately describe menu items

Qualification Standards

Education:

Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent

Any combination of education and experience equivalent provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.



Experience:

Preferred: 1+ years of experience

Licenses or Certificates:

Valid Background Check that meets company driving record policy

Valid BASSET Certification from the State of Illinois

Valid Food Handler’s Certificate

Must be of legal serving age; additional language skills preferred

Grooming:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Eastland Suites and Tentac Enterprises standards including hair color.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for 90% of the work day.
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in all directions
  • Ability to carry trays weighing up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room continuously throughout shift. Must be able to push and pull weight equaling 100 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity of hands to manipulate serving spoons, trays, etc.
  • Ability to perform duties with extreme temperature and noise ranges
  • Ability to see within normal parameters
  • Ability to hear within a normal range
