About the position

BIA is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Bartender/Café Assistant to join our high-performing retail team at the Nakamuras Café on a permanent basis.

The Bartender/ Café Assistant is responsible for providing efficient and friendly customer service to exceed customer expectations, whilst maintaining consistently high levels of food and beverage hygiene / safety.

Primary duties include:

• Preparing, serving and selling a variety of coffee beverages such as lattes, cappuccinos and other espresso-based beverages.

• Cleaning and maintaining bar service area, coffee-making area and espresso machine.

• Collecting payment for sales and operating cash registers.

• Promoting services and products.

• Selling light snacks and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

• Preparation and sale of cocktails.

About the person we seek

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide a high level of customer service, effective cash handling experience, and an ability to work unsupervised.

As the successful applicant,cash-handling experience, and the you will have:

• Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.

• Flexibility to work rotating roster including weekends.

• Eligible Working in Australia rights.

• Current C Class manual driver’s licence.

• Ability to obtain Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) checks and comply with BIA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP).

About Broome International Airport

Broome International Airport (BIA), is the Gateway to Broome and the Kimberley Region. The airport hosts a mixture of scheduled jet and turboprop passenger services (RPT), extensive General Aviation and Charter services, Helicopter Operations and Coastwatch.

The airport is also the service base of a number of significant Kimberley Industries. These include Tourism, Mining, Offshore Oil and Gas and the Pearling industries. Existing statistics show that for the financial year 2015/16, Broome International Airport will handle close to 400,000 passengers and approximately 40,000 aircraft movements.

BIA is situated close to the Broome Township and the airport reserve is approximately 155 hectares. Apart from operating the Airport and main passenger terminal, BIA operates the largest Heliport in the Southern Hemisphere.
