We are seeking an energetic, outgoing, and guest-focused Bartender for Toasted Barrel located inside the Residence Inn San Diego Downtown/Gaslamp Quarter This individual will help create a welcoming and memorable guest experience through exceptional service, beverage knowledge, and genuine hospitality.
The ideal candidate is friendly, engaging, efficient, and passionate about creating a fun and inviting atmosphere while delivering outstanding service.
This position may require flexible scheduling availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Part-time availability with opportunity for additional hours based on business needs.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and brand standards
• Provide friendly, attentive, and engaging service to all guests
• Learn and confidently explain menu items, beverage offerings, and promotions
• Accurately enter orders, process payments, and charge transactions to guest accounts through the POS system
• Set up and maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards throughout the bar and outlet
• Manage opening, closing, stocking, prep, garnishes, glassware, and daily side work responsibilities
• Follow all responsible alcohol service guidelines, California RBS requirements, and IHM policies
• Verify guest identification and monitor alcohol consumption to ensure responsible service standards are maintained
• Communicate guest concerns, service issues, or alcohol-related incidents promptly to management
• Work collaboratively with hotel and food & beverage team members to ensure smooth operations
• Effectively manage the bar environment during both slower periods and unexpected high-volume rushes while maintaining service standards and guest engagement
• Maintain a strong sense of urgency, organization, and accountability while independently managing bar operations as needed
Job Qualifications:
• Previous bartending or food and beverage experience preferred
• Hotel or hospitality experience preferred
• Knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and responsible alcohol service practices
• Comfortable working independently and managing guest service during solo shifts as needed
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly in a fast-paced setting
• Comfortable handling changing business levels while maintaining professionalism and service standards
• Strong communication and guest service skills with an outgoing and approachable personality
• Highly motivated team player with strong initiative and sense of accountability
• Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve operational or guest concerns as needed
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism and a positive guest experience
