Pharmacy Tech

PRN Schedule - Every other weekend and 1-2 evenings per week

• Receives, stickers, and stocks daily medication order
• Ensure barcode recognition in various facility systems and creates or re-barcodes items that are not recognized by systems
• Performs automated dispensing cabinet (Pyxis) refill review and dispenses appropriate medications
• Maintains assigned nursing station/medication room checks in compliance with policy
• Refills ADC and performs out-of-date checks on all items
• Troubleshoots ADC issues and resolves when possible and informs director when issues must be resolved
• Performs controlled substance audit reviews and controlled substance charge documentation reviews
• Investigates any controlled substance discrepancy in assigned area, resolves when possible and informs director of any discrepancy that requires nurse leader involvement or investigation
• Repackages medications into unit-dose packaging and documents appropriate lot number and expiration labeling
• Performs non-sterile compounding of topical and oral medications
• Performs sterile compounding of intravenous products utilizing aseptic technique
• Tracks and logs department temperature and humidity measurements
• Assists in training of new pharmacy technicians

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Pharmacy experience preferred but not required
• Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patient, guest, physicians, and other employees
