The Bariatric Program Coordinator must satisfy the requirements for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Coordinator according to the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). These requirements may be updated from time to time by MBSAQIP, making it necessary to update the Bariatric Program Coordinator job description in order to stay in compliance for Center Accreditation.
This position will be comprised of both administrative and clinical roles for the purposes of development of the Bariatric Surgical Program and the care of its patients. The Program Coordinator will serve as a liaison between Saint Joseph Wellness and Weight Management (WWM) and Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center for the coordination and care of bariatric surgical patients.
The Program Coordinator will serve as chief compliance officer for the hospital and WWM with regards to MBSAQIP requirements. The Program Coordinator will assist with center development, maintaining relevant policies and procedures, patient education materials, outcomes data collection, quality improvement efforts, and ensure continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements. The Program Coordinator will facilitate all activities associated with gaining accreditation, and the re-accreditation process.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Education- Bachelor or Graduate degree in Medicine :or Bachelor or Graduate Degree of Nursing (BSN preferred):or Bachelor or higher in Business
Licensure: Licensed or Registered Health Care Professional in the State of Indiana (ie:RN, RN-MSN, RDN, LPN).
Experience: Minimum 5 years of previous experience in a Medical Practice and/or program oversight preferred
