Position Purpose:

  • In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Clinical Dietitian (Bariatrics) applies medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to promote health and provide nutrition care services in the treatment of disease and restoration of health. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, participating in patient satisfaction, quality management, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. Clinical Dietitians complete nutrition assessments, monitoring nutrition care plans, interact with the interdisciplinary team members, and serve as a nutrition resource to internal and external clients.

What You Will Do:

  • Develops, implements, and documents plan of care based on assessments of nutritional needs in correlation with other health care plans.
  • Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of nutritional intervention specific for the Bariatric population and provides follow up for continuity of care. Provides effective hand-off communication.
  • Attends patient care conferences as needed.
  • Practices within the American Dietetic Association (ADA) Scope of Practice, ADA Standards of Practice in Nutrition Care, ADA Standards of Professional Performance, Ohio Board of Dietetics licensure laws, Ohio Board of Dietetics rules and guidelines, and Mount Carmel Health and Department of Nutrition Services policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university. Prefer experience with bariatric and weight management nutrition care. Will obtain within one year of employment.
  • Licensure / Certification: Requires current Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credential as a Registered Dietitian, or registry eligible and must achieve Registered Dietitian credential within six (6) months of date of hire. Licensed in the State of Ohio. Certification in weight management preferable. Recent and relevant clinical experience with the Bariatric population. Completes continuing education requirements to maintain credentials.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year clinical experience preferred.
