Job/FLSA Status: Part-Time, Exempt

Reports to: Director of Career & Technical Education

Position Summary: The Barbering/Cosmetology Salon Supervisor will oversee Open Studio hours in the Lavish Studio of Cosmetology and Barbering outside of regular school hours. The individual in this role will oversee current cosmetology and barbering students as they provide salon services and gain hands-on experiences aligned with their course pathways. This position provides instructional support, guidance, and supervision to ensure student safety, professionalism, and skill development.

Role qualifications:

  • Must hold a current and valid license in barbering or cosmetology from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations (IDFPR).
  • A current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) endorsed in Career & Technical Education (CTE) is preferred.
  • Must have strong knowledge of industry standards, practices, and safety protocols.
  • Must be able to effectively supervise high school students in a hands-on lab/studio environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students during Open Studio hours in the Lavish Studio outside of regular school hours.
  • Monitor and support students as they perform services and hands-on experiences connected to the barbering and cosmetology course pathways.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards required by the IDFPR.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and professional mentorship to students to reinforce skills taught during the school day.
  • Maintain accurate records of student service hours completed within the studio.
  • Maintain a professional, supporting learning environment that promotes growth and skill mastery.
  • Communicate with Career Development staff regarding student progress, concerns, and program needs.
  • Adhere to the published policies and procedures of the District.
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned.

  • Experience working in a high school setting.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.

Terms of Employment:

  • Hourly wage of $63 per hour for hours worked.
  • Work schedule will include Saturdays and Tuesdays after school hours.
