Effective for the 2026-2027 school year, a vacancy for a Barbering Instructor exists within the Division of Career, Technical and Customized Education at the Technical College High School - Pennock's Bridge.

Qualifications

  • PA State Board of Barber Teaching License
  • PA Department of Education Teaching Vocational I or II Certificate, or qualify to enroll in a certification program.
  • 4 years of industry experience required.
  • Current police, child abuse, and FBI Fingerprint clearances required.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide quality occupational instruction to students in grades 9-12 in Barbering skill competencies.
  • Plan and develop curriculum and daily lesson plans incorporating industry-approved standards, skills based on the PA Department of Education-approved curriculum, in accordance with the PA State Board of Barber Regulations. Monitor and assess students' theory and skill performance based on tests, quizzes, projects, and means of formative assessment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and other measures of student performance using computer technology.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress, conduct, attendance, and other matters of performance-related skills.
  • Other assignments requested by the principal or designee.

Salary Range (2026 - 2027 School Year)
$59,796 to $87,342 - Emergency/Intern Certification (coming in with industry experience)
$62,155 to $89,730 - Vocational I Teaching Certification
$64,834 to $93,324 - Vocational II Teaching Certification
$69,353 to $101,911 - Master's Degree
$72,740 to $105,924 - Master's +15
$74,415 to $107,845 - Master's + 30

Schedule: 10-month, school year (194 days), Mon - Fri, 7.5 hours per day

About Chester County Intermediate Unit

Created in 1971 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Chester County Intermediate Unit is a regional educational service agency that exists to provide quality, cost-effective services to the community and its residents. The Chester County Intermediate Unit administers instructional, enrichment and administrative programs and services to Chester County’s 12 public school districts, and to over 45 private and parochial schools in the county. These programs include instructional, remedial and enrichment services for regular and special education students and career and technical education programs for secondary and post-secondary students. The CCIU provides direct instruction to over 5,000 students a year and support services to an additional 30,000 students a year.

In addition, the IU supports teachers, school administrators, school directors and school districts through a multitude of services, including, but not limited to: business and administrative services, communications services, technology services and human resources. The diversity of CCIU programs enables IU staff to interact with school district personnel at all levels and to maintain a cohesive educational network throughout Chester County.
