Position Summary
The Barback plays a critical support role in delivering an efficient, well-stocked, and visually polished bar experience at Lido Restaurant & Bar. This position is responsible for the complete setup, restocking, and breakdown of the bar while actively supporting bartenders throughout service. A successful Barback is proactive, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy hospitality environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare the bar for service by completing opening setup according to established checklists
- Maintain par levels and ensure continuous stocking of all bar essentials throughout the shift
- Stock and polish all glassware
- Fill and maintain ice wells
- Maintain inventory of fruits, juices, water, beer, liquor, garnishes, silverware, napkins, salt & pepper, and all other bar-related items
- Stock all paper and plastic goods including napkins, straws, stirrers, and micros paper
- Keep the bar area clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times
- Assist bartenders during peak service periods to ensure smooth operations
- Break down and clean the bar at closing
- Empty and maintain trash and recycling areas
- Assist guests when appropriate and support service flow
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the bartender or manager
Required Skills &
Qualifications
- Basic bar product knowledge required; drink-making familiarity is helpful but not required
- Working knowledge of POS systems preferred
- Strong understanding of written and spoken English; multilingual skills are a plus
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently under pressure
- Commitment to delivering consistent service in accordance with Standard SOPs
- Adherence to uniform, grooming, and personal hygiene standards; ongoing cleaning and workstation maintenance
- Strong punctuality and attendance
- Must be fully flexible to work holidays and weekends
- Maintains personal conduct aligned with The Standard’s policies, values, and service culture
- Ability to identify and immediately report real or potential issues to management
Certifications
- Must obtain state-approved Food Handler and Alcohol Service certifications
- Training and access to certification will be provided by the hotel
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and remain on your feet for up to 8 hours per shift
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stretching, and reaching
- Ability to push, pull, move, carry, and lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to grasp, turn, and hold objects consistently throughout the shift
QualificationsRequired Skills/
Qualifications:
Product Knowledge: Bar product, drink making ability helpful but not imperative. Rudimentary menu knowledge.
POS: Working knowledge of POS system.
Understanding: Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions according to established procedures.
Comprehension: Excellent command of the English language. Multi-lingual is helpful but not required.
Organizational Skills: Work efficiently, utilize multi-tasking and task prioritization skills.
Service: Level of service consistent and uniform in accordance with established standards per SOPs.
Hygiene and Sanitation: Adherence to uniform, grooming and personal hygiene standards and expectations per SOPs. Ongoing cleaning and maintenance of workstation according to established procedure.
Punctuality: Adherence to posted schedule and arrival time. Attendance at mandatory meetings when scheduled.
Responsibility: Personal comportment in line with Standard, Miami policies, standards and expectations. While on the floor identify and report real or potential problem situations to Management immediately.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work standing for a minimum period of 8 hours per day.
Periodical bending, kneeling and stretching is required.
Pull, push, move, carry and lift at least 40 pounds of force is required.
Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
