Banquet Server (Part-Time, Year-Round)

Department: Banquets
Compensation: Service Charge Pool (Commission-Based)
Training Wage: $16.50/hour until proficiency
Schedule: Variable Day & Evening Shifts
Availability Required: Weekends, Holidays, and Peak Seasons
Location: Sundance Mountain Resort

About the Role

We are seeking professional, hospitality-driven Banquet Servers to support weddings, conferences, and special events in a luxury resort environment. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that combines refined guest service with event setup, room resets, and breakdown.

Our Banquet Servers play a key role in creating warm, memorable guest experiences while maintaining high service and operational standards. This position is ideal for individuals who are dependable, self-motivated, physically active, and take pride in delivering exceptional hospitality.

What You'll Do

  • Provide warm, attentive, and professional service to guests during events

  • Execute buffet service, plated meals, and passed appetizers to resort service standards

  • Anticipate guest needs and respond with urgency and professionalism

  • Assist with full event setup including tables, buffets, linens, and service stations

  • Perform room flips and resets, including moving and arranging heavy tables and furniture

  • Maintain clean, organized service areas and event spaces before, during, and after events

  • Replenish buffets and beverage stations throughout service

  • Break down events and return rooms to standard setup

  • Lift and transport banquet equipment including crates of plates, linen bags, and supplies

  • Work cooperatively with Sales & Catering, Culinary, Supervisors, and Management

Note: In our operation, Banquet Servers support both service and setup/breakdown responsibilities.

What We're Looking For

  • Excellent hospitality skills and a genuine desire to create positive guest experiences

  • Strong initiative and the ability to stay busy without constant supervision

  • Professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail

  • Commitment to cleanliness, organization, and high operational standards

  • Team-oriented mindset with strong work ethic

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment

  • Valid driver's license and ability to occasionally operate company vehicles

  • Must be 21+ and able to obtain Food Handler and Alcohol Service Permits within 30 days

Hospitality attitude is essential. We can train service steps; we cannot train genuine warmth, initiative, and professionalism.

Schedule & Availability Expectations

This role requires a highly flexible schedule due to the nature of weddings and resort events. Weekend, holiday, and peak season availability is required.

This position is best suited for individuals with consistent availability. It may not be ideal for applicants with limited schedules, frequent travel plans, or extended absences during busy seasons (including summer). Early morning events (as early as 5:00 AM) and late-night receptions are common.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position that includes:

  • Standing and walking for long periods (often up to 20,000 steps per shift)

  • Occasionally working shifts up to 10 hours

  • Frequently lifting heavy items including crates of plates and banquet equipment

  • Moving and resetting large banquet tables and furniture

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive service charge-based earnings (primary compensation structure)

  • Employee dining and resort discounts

  • Active Season Pass

  • 401(k) with company match

Important

This is not a traditional restaurant serving role. Banquet Servers must be comfortable with formal service standards, large-scale events, and physically active shifts that include setup, room resets, and breakdown in addition to guest service.
