Job Category: Restaurant - Food ServiceThe Banquet Houseperson sets the stage—literally. You’ll read BEOs/diagrams, stage rooms, move and maintain event furniture/equipment, support quick turnovers, and keep back-of-house areas organized and safe so every meeting, wedding, and celebration runs on time and to spec.
Key Responsibilities
- Room Setup & Strike

- - Interpret BEOs and floor diagrams; set/reset tables, chairs, risers, dance floors, podiums, coat racks, pipe & drape, and décor to specifications.

- - Execute quick flips/turnovers between events; verify room appearance, alignment, and egress before handoff.

- Logistics & Inventory

- - Pull, deliver, and return banquet equipment using carts/dollies; track counts of tables, chairs, linens, skirting, staging, and signage.

- - Maintain organized storage rooms; report shortages/damages; assist with monthly inventories.

- Cleanliness & Stewarding Support

- - Keep event spaces and service hallways clean (trash removal, sweeping/mopping, spot-cleaning carpets/glass).

- - Stage and return linen; support dish/pan returns with Stewarding as needed.

- AV & Utilities (Basic)

- - Place/strike basic AV: screens, projectors, extension cords, power drops; coordinate with AV team for advanced setups.

- - Check lighting presets, thermostats, and room signage; report issues promptly.

- Safety & Compliance

- - Follow safe lifting and ladder practices; observe OSHA/sanitation guidelines and fire code egress.

- - Use radios professionally; comply with key control and incident reporting procedures.

- Guest & Team Support

- - Respond quickly to last-minute changes and guest/meeting planner requests; partner with Banquet Captains, Culinary, and Engineering.

Qualifications
- Prior banquet houseperson/event setup or facilities experience preferred (will train reliable, hard-working candidates).
- Able to read BEOs, diagrams, and follow written/verbal instructions; strong attention to detail and pace.
- Customer-service mindset; clear, courteous communication over radio and in person.
- Comfortable using carts, dollies, basic hand tools; basic AV familiarity a plus.
- Flexible availability, including late nights, weekends, and holidays; dependable attendance.
- Food Handler and/or OSHA 10 preferred (or willing to obtain).
Physical Requirements
- Stand/walk for extended periods; frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and stair use.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull 50–75 lbs (tables, chairs, risers, dance floor sections) with or without assistance.
- Work in fast-paced environments and around cleaning/sanitizing chemicals (PPE provided).
