Job Description

Job Location: MDK Columbus - COLUMBUS, OH 43204MDK, an innovative law firm, is seeking a Paralegal – Bankruptcy Claims to join our team. The Paralegal is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and filing Proofs of Claim (POCs) and other claim related filings in bankruptcy cases. This role ensures compliance with client-specific requirements, court rules, and internal quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and file Proof of Claims (POC) for creditors in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, ensuring compliance with all relevant rules and deadlines.
- Review loan and case information, and analyze information to identify the correct facts needed for drafting legal documents.
- Keep case management system and client communication systems updated with current status of cases.
- Coordinate with clients using high levels of customer service to gather necessary documentation and ensure proper filing of claims within prescribed timelines.
- Maintain open lines of communication with trustees, creditors, and opposing counsel to facilitate smooth claims processing.
- The capacity to adjust to changing circumstances, new information, and unexpected challenges.

- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree and/or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Law firm experience, 1-2 years is preferred.
- Accounting and/or Bookkeeping experience preferred.
- Hybrid position – flexibility to work both remotely and in our Columbus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
