How you will Make an Impact

The chosen candidate will form part of the Banking Risk & Regulatory Advisory team, focusing on the provision of advisory services on banking financial and prudential regulation, corporate governance, and risk management. The chosen candidate will have opportunities to also work across all areas of our Strategy, Risk and Transactions practice.

The Banking Risk & Regulatory Advisory team sits within Deloitte’s Strategy, Risk and Transactions business which is a leader in the provision of professional services in the areas of Strategy and Transaction Advisory, Regulatory and Financial Risk Advisory, and Internal Audit and Internal Controls Advisory.

Your main tasks will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist banking and financial services clients in benchmarking their readiness to implement regulations, providing gap assessments and remediation recommendations that add value and supporting the client in implementing regulatory requirements
  • Assist clients in developing stress testing exercises to analyze the quantitative impact of internal and external shocks and related scenarios to their capital and liquidity reserves
  • Perform quantitative assessments of clients’ capital, liquidity and risk metrics against regulatory thresholds and industry benchmarks
  • Assisting clients in producing and reviewing regulatory reporting requirements, and, together with our data team, supporting clients in implementing reporting controls and automation
  • Carry out research and build technical knowledge on new or changing regulations of interest in all areas of governance, regulatory compliance and risk management
  • Apply previously acquired technical knowledge on relevant regulatory, compliance or risk topics in a relevant and proportionate manner to the client’s business and circumstances
  • Draft policies and procedures that reflect the client’s internal processes and include recommendations made to strengthen internal controls and regulatory compliance
  • Document work performed and findings in a logical, thorough and structured manner, in line with firm methodology and relevant guidance, including communicating findings to senior management
  • Advise the client on solving control design issues based on industry leading practices and regulatory requirement

  • Applies industry and competitor knowledge to build solutions that are in line with market trends, and, in so doing, challenges existing practices and brings in innovative solutions from across the market or Deloitte
  • Manages end-to-end engagement planning for complex engagements from the earliest stages to avoid delays and challenges by setting objectives, identifying deliverables, planning schedules and resource deployment in alignment with engagement skills requirements
  • Sets tone by leading teams in application of appropriate tools, methodologies, quality and risk protocols, relevant regulatory frameworks, professional standards and regulatory requirements
  • Responds to unexpected situations by identifying out-of-the-box alternatives and ideas to adapt with agility, including supporting teams to understand the need to adapt when required
  • Consistently identifies opportunities to advance our eminence building agenda in the marketplace through current engagements/interventions and through collaborations within the team

Your Specialized skills:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ working experience with a focus on banking risk and regulatory compliance, within Risk, Compliance, Finance or similar area
  • University degree in Banking and Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in financial risk management and quantitative outputs
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Ways to stand out from the crowd

  • Experience within a supervisory role, or within the second or third line of defence of a business, will be considered favourably
  • Any experience working on financial risk tools, application of modelling techniques or management of stress testing exercises, including the ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery Plan, will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP), the new Capital Requirements Regulation and Directive (CRD6/CRR3), and/or EBA and MFSA guidance around aspects of banking regulation, and their implementation in practice
