Radiology Assistants play a key role in supporting the radiology team by providing essential administrative and chaperone support, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care and experience.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong organisational and interpersonal skills, a passion for healthcare, and a desire to contribute to the smooth running of a busy clinical environment. It is particularly well-suited to radiography students seeking hands-on experience in a clinical setting and the chance to learn directly from experienced radiographers.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the radiographer in completing daily worklists
Assist patients through the patient journey, verifying their identity, explaining the procedure, reassuring the patient if anxious, making them feel comfortable prior exam, checking safety questionnaires, and making sure patient is properly prepared and dressed for relevant exam
Provide emotional and physical support to patients during treatment, act as chaperone for intimate sonography examinations, follow all policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure safety and dignity at all times
Transport patients to and from scanning areas, assist patient in changing area, if necessary, assist radiographer with safe lifting and positioning during exam
Help to maintain scanning systems and accessory equipment, report any fault with equipment, clean imaging equipment as needed, responsible for knowing how to clean all areas of assigned modality area according to established IP&C policies and protocols. Know how to set up ultrasound or/and MRI equipment/coils. Follow Ultrasound probe cleaning protocols
Monitor the use of consumables and re-stock clinical areas as required
Complete clerical tasks such as scanning referrals, input of data, maintaining records, adding and updating exam information across different information and patient management systems
Answering phone calls
Contacting medical scan patients to arrange appointments when referrals come through on Healthlink

Qualifications:
QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (preferred but not essential)
Currently studying Radiography (desirable)
