Healthcare Assistant - Bank

Location: The Wilmslow Hospital, Cheshire

Shift times: Various shifts available Monday to Saturday

Salary: Competitive hourly rate

We're looking for a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our Outpatients Department at The Wilmslow Hospital, an Outstanding-rated hospital delivering exceptional patient care across Cheshire. The hospital supports over 10,000 outpatient appointments each year and provides rapid access to diagnostics, specialist consultations and treatment across a wide range of specialties.

As a Bank Healthcare Assistant in Outpatients, you'll work alongside leading consultants, nurses and multidisciplinary teams, supporting a diverse patient population across specialist services including Women's Health, Breast Care, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology and Sports & Exercise Medicine.

This is a varied and patient-focused role where you'll support the clinical team in delivering high-quality care, assist with patient assessments and observations, help prepare patients for clinic appointments and procedures, and contribute to a smooth and positive patient experience throughout their outpatient journey.

What you'll do:

• Support patients attending outpatient clinics and procedures.
• Monitor and record observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturations and respiratory rate.
• Monitor and record blood glucose levels.
• Record ECGs.
• Undertake simple aseptic dressings and assist with the removal of sutures, clips and cannulas.
• Chaperone patients where appropriate and support patient dignity and wellbeing.
• Assist with preparing clinic rooms and equipment.
• Support consultants, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensure high standards of infection prevention and patient safety are maintained.

What you'll bring:

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Healthcare, Care Certificate, or equivalent healthcare experience.
• Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a hospital, outpatient, clinic or acute healthcare setting.
• Experience taking and recording patient observations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to work bank shifts as required.
