Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Bank Research Nurse to deliver high-quality clinical research across the North West via our EMS mobile research units. You will play a hands-on role in conducting participant visits, supporting recruitment, and ensuring excellent clinical care and data integrity.

This role is ideal for a research nurse with previous clinical research experience who thrives in dynamic, mobile settings and enjoys working directly with participants. You will support a variety of studies, including obesity-focused and lifestyle interventions, and collaborate closely with the Senior Research Nurse and wider site teams to achieve study objectives.

The successful candidate will be flexible, proactive, and committed to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), with strong clinical and interpersonal skills to engage participants and support mobile research operations. This role involves travelling across various sites within the North West, so flexibility to travel is essential.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct study-specific clinical procedures and participant visits in line with protocols, GCP, and EMS SOPs.
  • Perform nursing assessments including vital signs, ECGs, phlebotomy, and other study-related procedures as required.
  • Support participant recruitment, screening, enrolment, and retention in collaboration with the site team.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant completion of case report forms, source documentation, and trial logs.
  • Maintain safe, organised, and efficient mobile unit operations, including handling of clinical samples and study materials.
  • Provide participants with clear information, ensuring informed consent and ongoing support.
  • Escalate clinical or operational issues to the Senior Research Nurse or Clinical Research & Delivery Manager as appropriate.
  • Attend team meetings, training sessions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and regulatory requirements at all times.

Experience

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.
  • Previous experience in clinical research or trial delivery.
  • Competent in standard nursing procedures within research or outpatient settings.
  • Knowledge of ICH-GCP and the clinical research process.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in mobile or community-based healthcare delivery.
  • Familiarity with studies related to obesity, metabolic health, or lifestyle interventions.
  • Proficient in electronic data capture systems or clinical databases.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Compassionate, patient-focused care delivery.
  • High standards of clinical documentation and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and adaptable in fast-paced or mobile environments.
  • Flexibility to travel and work across multiple sites within the North West.

Other Requirements:

  • Full UK residency and valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Ability to travel within Greater Manchester and surrounding areas as required.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional early starts or late finishes.
