WORK TYPE: Full time, Exempt

LOCATION DETAILS: Remote – United States (Excluding Washington State and California)

This position is open to candidates residing in any U.S. state except Washington and California. This role is not open to candidates residing in Washington State and California due to budget constraints related to state-specific compensation disclosure requirements.

WORK HOURS: Full Time - working standard business hours but must be available during evenings and weekends as needed

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: 15-20% Travel within territory is expected including various customer visits, conferences, events, and championships across the country.

COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $51,000 - $58,000 per year, plus the opportunity for performance based incentives.

The base salary will vary based on criteria such as education, experience and qualifications of the applicant, location, internal equity, and alignment with the market.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: 

Varsity Spirit is hiring a Band Event Sales Representative to join our team! The Band Event Sales Representative is key to Varsity’s success and is responsible for developing and executing a plan to achieve sales goals, recruit bands, and grow band participation in our special events, competitions, championships, and instructional opportunities.

A Band Event Sales Representative will represent Varsity Brands by demonstration of company core values in driving the highest ethical standards of conduct in all business activities.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

• Build and maintain key customer relationships and direct customers into appropriate band products and services that meet customers’ unique needs and achieve sales targets.
• Promote camps and events in coordination with marketing and sales support; includes engaging customers on social media and using branded company social accounts
• Work with Apparel Reps and Cheer/Dance State Directors to grow participation at camps, clinics, and events.
• Perform competitive market analysis and adapt strategic plans to local market conditions.
• Track and report on customer and sales initiative metrics.
• Partner with the Manager, VPA Events to determine key Band Director conferences and meetings and ensure appropriate Varsity Spirit/Varsity Performing Arts presence
• Support development of educational curriculum
• Research new customers and update existing customer contact information in CRM

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Business acumen and adaptability to take high-level direction and use judgement to find best products and services for customers
• Proactive planning to create and build plans that meet sales goals and strategic objectives.
• High-level of professionalism and business acumen especially when dealing with large, sophisticated partners at schools and universities
• Time management and organization skills to independently balance and work on multiple tasks/projects concurrently
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Customer service orientation to build and retain strong business relationships
• Technical skills [Microsoft Office, Salesforce]
• Ability to travel regularly and to work evenings/weekends, as needed
• Strong knowledge of band programs is a necessity.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years of sales experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, education, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in performing arts or the performing arts industry is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a hybrid setting between a home office environment and in community, and trade show environments. Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk and working on a computer with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Travel days require movement to and from location, ability to drive distances in a vehicle, physically lift luggage via air travel, and some general lifting of materials, boxes, etc. for setting up booth displays at trade shows and events. Office days are largely sedentary performing computer and phone work.
