  • Hours: 9am – 5pm (Monday to Friday)
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Rate: £28.00 – £32.00 P/H


South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Locum Speech and Language Therapist with expertise in learning disabilities and dysphagia to join our team at Fox View Hub in Dewsbury. This role is focused on providing specialist speech and language therapy services to individuals with learning disabilities.

What your responsibilities will be for this Speech and Language Therapy role?

As a Band 6 Locum Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering specialist assessment and intervention services to individuals with learning disabilities, with a particular emphasis on dysphagia. Your duties will include conducting detailed assessments of communication and swallowing difficulties, developing and implementing tailored therapy plans, and monitoring and reviewing patient progress to ensure optimal outcomes. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated care, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to address complex needs. Additionally, you will engage with patients and their families to provide education and support regarding communication and swallowing management. Your role will be based at Fox View Hub, and while the position is primarily site-based, you may need to travel occasionally within the area.

Key Requirements:

  • HCPC registration
  • Experience in speech and language therapy with a focus on learning disabilities
  • Dysphagia trained and competent in managing dysphagia cases
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong assessment, intervention, and communication skills
