Job Title: Lead Pharmacy Assistant

Banding: Band 4
Location: Inpatient Pharmacy – Charing Cross & St Mary’s
Start Date: 02/02/26
Duration: 2 months (with potential extension depending on recruitment progress)
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm (30‑minute lunch)
Hours per Day: 7.5
Hourly Rate: Competitive, depending on experience

We are seeking an experienced Band 4 Lead Pharmacy Assistant to support the Inpatient Pharmacy teams at both Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital. This role is ideal for a motivated and organised pharmacy assistant with strong hospital experience and confidence using CMM/JAC systems.

You will play a key part in delivering an efficient, safe and patient‑centred pharmacy service, supporting dispensary workflow, managing stock, and providing leadership to other pharmacy assistants within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the pharmacy assistant team within the inpatient dispensary.
  • Ensure safe, accurate and efficient dispensing of inpatient and discharge medications.
  • Use CMM/JAC systems for dispensing, stock management and workflow processes.
  • Maintain accurate records, labelling, and stock control across both inpatient pharmacy sites.
  • Provide support to pharmacists and technicians as required, ensuring smooth service delivery.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of junior assistants or new staff members.
  • Ensure compliance with local SOPs, medicines legislation and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to service improvements, workflow optimisation and excellent patient care.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Essential: Previous hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Essential: Confident using CMM/JAC.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to lead by example.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced dispensary environment.
