Galvion is seeking a Ballistics Technician I to join our Quality team in Newport, Vermont. This hands-on technical role is responsible for performing, evaluating, documenting, and reporting ballistic and non-ballistic testing of military helmet products and production materials.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and committed to quality. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a laboratory/manufacturing environment and wants to develop expertise in ballistic testing, inspection, measurement, and quality processes.

What You'll Do

  • Perform ballistic testing of military products and received goods to support production requirements.
  • Conduct non-ballistic testing and incoming/in-process inspections.
  • Prepare helmets and components for ballistic and non-ballistic testing, including measuring, marking, and assembly.
  • Evaluate test results against applicable standards and specifications.
  • Document and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Inspect armor products throughout the production process.
  • Release approved components following established inspection procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized testing environment.
  • Verify laboratory equipment calibration and assist with equipment maintenance.
  • Complete Non-Conforming Reports when required.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications to document, analyze, and report testing results.
  • Develop proficiency with FaroArm and PolyWorks for product measurement and analysis.
  • Work closely with Ballistics Supervisors, Quality Engineers, Quality Team Leads, and other shifts to communicate findings and maintain efficient workflow.
  • Identify quality issues and recommend improvements to processes and components.
  • Follow all applicable quality, safety, and testing procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Technical college/CEGEP degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience with ballistic testing, ammunition loading, or weapons and ammunition storage is preferred.
  • Manufacturing and/or laboratory experience is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic electrical hardware knowledge.
  • Ability to use standard measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to learn new testing methods, equipment, and procedures quickly.
  • Understanding of ISO processes, certification, and compliance.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production schedules.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory/manufacturing environment.
  • Hearing, respiratory, and eye protection are required.
  • Participation in quarterly lead testing as part of the company's lead safety program.
  • Annual respiratory protection fit testing is required.
