Report To: Senior Manager, Transportation and Distribution

The Baler Operator is responsible for collecting, compacting, and preparing paper waste and other recyclable materials for disposal or recycling. This role supports the overall cleanliness, efficiency, and safety of warehouse operations by ensuring that waste materials are handled correctly and consistently.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Waste Collection and Material Handling

  • Retrieve discarded paper trim from the gathering bin.
  • Place excess paper and recyclable materials into the compactor.
  • Routinely clear the warehouse floor of scrap, debris, and other unwanted materials.

Baler Operation and Bale Preparation

  • Operate the baler machine safely and efficiently.
  • Manually tie completed bales using wire and prepare them for pick-up or transport.
  • Monitor baler equipment to ensure proper functionality and report issues as needed.

Facility Support and General Duties

  • Assist the warehouse supervisor with various tasks as needed or requested.
  • Follow all safety protocols while handling equipment and materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, with frequent bending, lifting, and physical activity.
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold warehouse environments, depending on the season.
  • Ability to operate a baler machine safely and efficiently.
  • Previous warehouse experience is helpful but not required.
