Job Description

As a Bakery Supervisor, you will support the Bakery Manager in the day‑to‑day operations of the department, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality products and exceptional service. In this leadership role, you will assist with coaching, training, scheduling, and guiding team members, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, freshness, and operational excellence. This position acts as the primary supervisor in the Bakery Manager’s absence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Bakery Manager in coordinating daily bakery operations and ensuring smooth workflow
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, waste control, and product rotation
  • Help create and maintain staff schedules in alignment with business needs
  • Supervise, train, coach, and support bakery team members, escalating performance concerns to the Bakery Manager as needed
  • Ensure all bakery products meet freshness, quality, and presentation standards before reaching the sales floor
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized department in compliance with food safety regulations
  • Provide exceptional guest service, including resolving concerns and supporting the Bakery Manager with escalated issues
  • Uphold and model company values, contributing to a welcoming “You’re at home here” environment
  • Collaborate with the Bakery Manager, Retail Sales Coordinators, and other departments to execute programs, promotions, and seasonal initiatives
  • Identify operational issues and communicate them promptly to the Bakery Manager
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support bakery and store operations

Qualifications:

  • A secondary school diploma is preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory or lead‑hand experience in a bakery, café, or food‑service environment
  • Food preparation experience required
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., FoodSafe Level 1 or equivalent) preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to meet multiple demands, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Basic computer skills for scheduling, ordering, and communication

Working Conditions:

  • Current schedule will require weekend work
  • Flexible - must be willing to work a variety of hours, including weekends and holidays based on the needs of the business

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift for up to 8 hours
  • Physically demanding; frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending stairs
