Responsibilities:

As a Bakery clerk at Gelson’s, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of our bakery and coffee bar. You will contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere while delivering exceptional customer service. Your role will involve preparing and serving a variety of baked goods, beverages, and light snacks

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers in making menu choices.
• Prepare and present a diverse range of baked goods, including pastries, bread, cakes, and cookies.
• Craft a variety of coffee and tea beverages, adhering to brewing techniques and maintain consistency in taste and presentation.
• Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of bakery and coffee bar departments, ensuring an inviting and organized environment.
• Stock and rotate products to ensure freshness and quality of baked goods.
• Place and receive product orders, ensuring accuracy and proper storage of incoming merchandise.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations. Follow safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Embrace new challenges and be a flexible team player, taking on responsibilities as needed.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a grocery retail setting
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Knowledge of grocery products, merchandising techniques, and inventory management
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Physical requirements:

• Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
• Reaching above and at shoulder level
• Standing, walking, bending up to 5 hours per day
• Walking on uneven surfaces
• Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Driving moving equipment (Forklift / Power jack)
• Working near hazardous equipment (Baler, trash compactor)
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes (Receiving dock)
• Exposure to extremes in temperature (Coolers)

Union pay range: $19.21- $21.81
