Cheeca Lodge & Spa, an iconic luxury resort in the Florida Keys, is renowned for its exceptional dining experiences. We’re seeking a skilled and passionate Baker – Pastry Cook to join our Food & Beverage team, creating top-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods that elevate the guest experience.

As a Baker – Pastry Cook, you’ll be responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting high-quality pastries and desserts. Your creations will play a key role in delighting our guests and enhancing their stay at Cheeca Lodge & Spa.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, produce, cook, and bake a variety of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
• Ensure adherence to Safe Serve food safety standards.
• Maintain inventory and par levels, ensuring sufficient stock of baking ingredients and supplies.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and execute menu items.
• Work flexible shifts, including weekends, nights, and late-night hours, as needed.
• Exhibit knowledge of basic culinary, baking, and pastry techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Post-secondary education in culinary arts, baking, or pastry preferred.

Skills and Experience (Essential)

• At least 18 years of age.
• Baking and pastry knowledge with hands-on experience in a professional kitchen.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong command of the English language with excellent communication skills, both in person and by telephone.

Skills and Experience (Preferred)

• One to two years of post-high school culinary, baking, or pastry education.
• Prior culinary, baking, or pastry experience in a high-quality establishment.

Qualifications
Able to read and follow written recipes with precision.
Have an understanding of scratch baking.
Understand how to work efficiently and safely in a fast paced environment.
Have experience navigating high volume using large equipment such as double rack ovens, 140 qt mixers, sheeters, etc.
Are punctual, organized, attentive and responsive to the demands of daily operation.
Plans and prepares non-baked goods and finish, decorating, plating and cutting baked goods as required to fulfill assigned work duties.
Possess an understanding of every facet of the gourmet pastry department.
Demonstrated experience (1-3 years) and ability to make pastry and product identification.
Recognized the ability to work with individuals and teams of diverse backgrounds as a member of a team.
