A Brief Overview
Provides expert classroom, clinical instruction and academic advising. Serves as a mentor for faculty colleagues and a consultant to other faculty for classroom, clinical practice, and/or curriculum development. Provides leadership and serves as a consultant for SON, healthcare facilities and University Committees. Serves as a consultant, program evaluator or distinguished speaker for other schools of nursing and the community. Demonstrates a sustained pattern of leadership in professional or community service at the state, regional and/or national level. Sustains a program of sound scholarship.

Education Qualifications

  • Doctorate DNP or PHD. Required


Experience Qualifications

  • 10 years Recent full-time college teaching and/or 5 years at the rank of Associate Professor. Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse - KSBN Required
  • Certified Nurse Educator - NLN - Magnet Other specialty certifications also accepted. Preferred
  • Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.


What you will do

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein.
  • Assumes leadership in course and program coordination, teaching, curriculum development, and evaluation.
  • Initiates innovative clinical sites/experiences and evaluates effectiveness.
  • Recognized as an expert teacher in the school of nursing, university and clinical settings.
  • Develops and disseminates innovative teaching methods to enhance the instructional process in academic and other forums.
  • Serves as an expert consultant to the larger academic community for the scholarship of teaching.
  • Innovates effective clinical/education practice approaches based on research.
  • Recognized as a consultant on clinical/education/research matters.
  • Demonstrates a sustained pattern of scholarly activities, e.g. ongoing research and grantsmanship and project development.
  • Collaborates with colleagues in intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary scholarly activities.
  • Facilitates knowledge development by presenting/publishing clinical or education research in refereed publications and/or scholarly presentations at national or international forums.
  • Finds creative ways to enlarge meaning of nursing practice or education.
  • Abides by faculty responsibilities for university citizenship as outlined in University and SON policy
  • Consistently provides leadership for school of nursing and university governance.
  • Maintains certification in areas of specialty practice or CNE, as applicable.
  • Participates in professional continuing education or credit courses that expand theoretical base and/or clinical knowledge.
