About the role

Wrknest is looking for a Backend Software Engineer on behalf of a global technology company with an established development team in Stockholm. The company develops integrated hardware and software solutions for connected environments, combining networking, IoT and device management in products used around the world.

In this role, you will focus on backend development in Go and work on services that enable communication, management and control of connected devices. The systems you build form an important part of a larger product ecosystem where backend software interacts closely with hardware, frontend applications and cloud services.

You will be part of a product-focused engineering team and work closely with developers across different technical disciplines. The role offers the opportunity to solve complex backend challenges while having a direct impact on how products behave and perform for their users.

Your future responsibilities

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will take part in the full development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to testing, troubleshooting and continuous improvement. A key part of the role is building backend solutions that remain reliable and maintainable as both the product and its user base grow.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing and maintaining backend services using Go

• Developing APIs and integrations between backend systems, applications and connected devices

• Building scalable and maintainable services for a growing product ecosystem

• Working with data storage, communication protocols and distributed systems

• Writing tests and ensuring high code quality throughout the development process

• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues

• Participating in architectural discussions, code reviews and technical decision-making

• Collaborating with frontend, firmware, product and other engineering teams

• Improving system performance, reliability and maintainability

• Contributing to the continuous development of engineering practices and tooling

About you

You have professional experience in backend software development and enjoy working close to both products and technology. You are comfortable taking responsibility for your solutions and understand what is required to build reliable services that need to communicate with several parts of a technical ecosystem.

Requirements:

• Professional experience in backend software development

• Strong programming skills in Go

• Good understanding of software architecture, data structures and algorithms

• Experience designing and developing APIs and backend services

• Understanding of databases and data storage

• Experience with concurrent and asynchronous programming

• Good understanding of networking and communication between systems

• Experience writing automated tests and working with modern software development practices

• Ability to troubleshoot and analyse complex technical problems

• Professional working proficiency in English

Nice to have:

• Experience developing software for IoT or other connected products

• Experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures

• Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies

• Experience working with Linux environments

• Experience with Docker, containers or similar technologies

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases

• Experience working with message queues or event-driven architectures

• Experience developing systems where cloud services, applications and physical devices interact

• Experience with additional backend programming languages

You approach technical problems methodically and enjoy understanding how different parts of a system fit together. You are comfortable collaborating across technical disciplines and discussing different solutions before deciding on an approach. At the same time, you care about code quality and take responsibility for building solutions that are reliable over time.

Start: According to agreement

Location: Central Stockholm, with a hybrid working model

Employment scope: Full-time

Employment type: Recruitment through Wrknest, with direct employment at the client company
