Purpose

Accountabilities

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank
  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs and microservices using Java.
  • Ensure code quality through unit, integration, and automated testing.
  • Participate in the design of scalable and secure architectures.
  • Integrate applications with core banking systems, as well as internal and external services.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, QA, and Product Owners in requirements definition.
  • Implement and provide support for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Document and maintain developed solutions in accordance with the bank’s standards.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

• 3+ years of experience in backend development with Java (8 or higher).
  • Experience with Spring / Spring Boot.
  • Solid knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and non-relational databases (MongoDB, Redis).
  • Proficiency with Git and experience working with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture principles.
