About The Role

You'll build the integrations that connect our platform to suppliers and payment rails, and help evolve the platform our partners build on. This is a hands-on engineering role: you'll design, build and test backend services while working directly with suppliers' technical teams to take integrations live. We're growing fast, so we need someone who moves fast, takes initiative, and is trusted to make technical decisions and see them through.

What You'll Do

• Lead supplier integrations end to end: scope, estimates and timelines, coordination with product, QA and ops, through sandbox/UAT, certification and go-live.
• Act as the technical point of contact for suppliers: clarify specs, resolve open technical questions, and align on flows, limits and settlement.
• Own ongoing maintenance of live integrations: API changes and deprecations, certificate and credential renewals, supplier health monitoring, and up-to-date integration documentation and runbooks.
• Design scalable integration and platform architecture: connector patterns, shared components and partner-facing APIs.
• Handle payment lifecycles: webhooks, retries, idempotency, partial failures, reconciliation and settlement.
• Build secure, compliant integrations with sound data protection and audit practices.
• Ensure production readiness through automated unit and integration tests, monitoring, alerting, and safe rollout and rollback plans.
• Write design docs, review others' designs and code, and lead incident root-cause analysis with suppliers.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of backend engineering, with strong production experience in Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Pragmatic about technology choices, including using other languages when needed to improve system reliability or performance.
• Proven experience running third-party integrations in production, ideally with payment gateways, banks or PSPs.
• Experience leading the design of a platform, integration layer or multi-provider system.
• Strong written and spoken English (B2+), with the ability to independently manage technical discussions with external partners.
• Ability to turn unclear specifications into actionable plans and deliver with minimal supervision.
• Strong fundamentals in async processing, idempotency, PostgreSQL/MySQL and production troubleshooting.

Nice to Have

• Experience at a payment gateway, processor or payments infrastructure company.
• Real-time or account-to-account payment rails, multi-currency.
• Redis, Sidekiq, Kafka, cloud and containers.
• AI-assisted coding tools with strong review discipline.

What success looks like in 6–12 months

• Agreed supplier integrations delivered end to end, through production launch and stabilisation.
• A reusable connector pattern that makes onboarding suppliers faster.
• Improved integration reliability and troubleshooting through better failure handling, monitoring and runbooks.
