We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our engineering team and work on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) implementations across enterprise web platforms. The role is focused on hands-on backend development, building and maintaining Java-based AEM solutions that are stable, scalable, and ready for production use. You will work across AEM services, integrations, content models, and Cloud Service deployments, while collaborating closely with frontend developers, architects, QA engineers, and product teams. The role requires strong AEM backend experience, good integration skills, and a practical approach to delivery and support.

Responsibilities:

AEM Backend Development

  • Develop, customise, and maintain AEM components, templates, workflows, Sling Models, and OSGi services
  • Build backend services and business logic using Java, Sling, and OSGi within standard AEM project structures
  • Work with AEM Core Components, Content Fragments, Experience Fragments, and Editable Templates
  • Develop workflows, launchers, and custom process steps where needed
  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented code

Integrations and Content Delivery

  • Build and maintain backend integrations between AEM and third-party enterprise systems using RESTful APIs and GraphQL
  • Implement and optimise content models, data layers, and Sling Models to support structured and headless content delivery
  • Work with frontend engineers to support integration between AEM backend services and SPA frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Help maintain a clear separation between content services, business logic, and presentation layers

AEM Cloud and Platform Support

  • Support AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) deployments, including Cloud Manager pipelines and release processes
  • Develop and maintain AEM Dispatcher configurations, caching rules, filter rules, and replication-related setup
  • Troubleshoot backend issues related to content rendering, replication, integrations, performance, and deployment
  • Contribute to AEM upgrades and migrations from legacy CMS platforms or on-premise AEM environments

Code Quality and Delivery

  • Take part in code reviews and code audits, providing practical feedback and clear follow-up actions
  • Contribute to refactoring and ongoing improvements across the backend codebase
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and technical decision-making
  • Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks, and internal knowledge-sharing

Collaboration

  • Work closely with architects, frontend developers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Explain technical decisions clearly and support delivery across cross-functional teams

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on AEM backend development experience in enterprise environments
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Sling, and OSGi for AEM component and service development
  • Solid experience with AEM Core Components, Content Fragments, Experience Fragments, and Editable Templates
  • Hands-on experience with Sling Models, HTL (Sightly), and Adobe Granite APIs for server-side rendering and content resolution
  • Experience developing AEM workflows, launchers, and custom process steps
  • Strong working knowledge of AEM Dispatcher, including configuration, caching rules, filter rules, and related setup
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints within AEM
  • Good understanding of AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS), Cloud Manager pipelines, and deployment models
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in AEM delivery
  • Experience with JUnit and AEM Mocks for unit testing backend components
  • Working knowledge of Maven-based AEM project structure, including the AEM Project Archetype
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex backend issues
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AEM Edge Delivery Services (EDS) and document-based authoring patterns
  • Familiarity with headless AEM architecture and integration with SPA frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Exposure to Adobe Marketing Cloud tools such as Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, or Adobe Launch
  • Experience with AEM Forms, including adaptive forms and form data model integrations
  • Knowledge of LDAP or SSO integration within AEM environments
  • Familiarity with other CMS platforms such as Sitecore, Drupal, or WordPress
  • Experience with performance profiling and tuning tools such as YourKit, JProfiler, or AEM pattern detector
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum delivery teams
  • Exposure to client-facing project delivery and technical discovery sessions
  • Adobe certifications related to AEM Sites or AEM Assets

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary and benefits package
  • The chance to work on a high-profile digital platform for a globally recognised brand
  • A role with real ownership over a core part of the AEM backend delivery
  • A collaborative team that values quality and practical delivery

About Seminole Gaming

The Seminole Tribe has long been recognized for innovation in its gaming and other businesses. It opened the first high-stakes bingo hall and casino in the United States in 1979. That facility was the forerunner of the Indian Gaming movement throughout North America. Analysts believe today’s Seminole Tribe operates one of the most profitable gaming enterprises in the world. In March 2007, the Seminole Tribe of Florida acquired Hard Rock International, the first transaction of its kind by an Indian tribe.

In addition to its two Seminole Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos, the Seminole Tribe owns and operates five other Seminole Casinos; in Coconut Creek and Hollywood, in Immokalee near Naples, and on the Brighton Reservation.
