Job Description

Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications for enterprise retail and e-commerce systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and RESTful APIs, along with an understanding of distributed systems and application integration. The developer will work closely with frontend engineers, architects, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable software solutions that support business operations and customer-facing applications. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate services across enterprise applications. Develop modular, scalable, and maintainable applications following object-oriented programming principles and design patterns. Implement business logic, data validation, exception handling, authentication, and authorization. Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases to develop efficient queries, data access layers, and database integrations. Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and optimize application performance and reliability. Write unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or equivalent testing frameworks. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, design reviews, and Agile development activities. Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless API integration and consistent application behavior. Support CI/CD pipelines, application deployments, and production issue resolution in collaboration with DevOps teams. Follow secure coding practices, coding standards, and software engineering best practices. Required Technical Skills Strong hands-on experience in Core Java, Java 8+ and object-oriented programming . Strong development experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and microservices . Experience designing and developing REST APIs and web services. Good understanding of microservices design principles, service-to-service communication, and distributed application architecture. Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or equivalent. Familiarity with ORM and persistence frameworks such as Spring Data JPA and Hibernate. Experience with unit testing, debugging, code reviews, and performance optimization. Working knowledge of Git and build tools such as Maven or Gradle. Understanding of application security, exception handling, logging, and configuration management. Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams. Preferred Skills Experience in retail, e-commerce, order management, inventory, fulfillment, or enterprise commerce applications. Exposure to cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure. Experience with messaging and event-driven technologies such as Kafka or Google Pub/Sub. Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo. Exposure to SQL and NoSQL databases, caching, and application monitoring tools. Experience with production support and distributed application troubleshooting. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should be hands-on, technically strong, and capable of independently developing backend features from requirements through testing and deployment. Candidates should be able to explain their actual contributions to microservices, API design, database interactions, and production troubleshooting.
