We are seeking a highly skilled backend developer to join our dynamic team at a leading financial institution. The developer shall be part of the global CoE Software Solutions team within Markets IT based in Zürich.

YOUR CHALLENGE

• Develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical financial platforms with focus on performance, security, and scalability

• Work extensively in C# or Java, leveraging strong typing and static language principles for robust solutions

• Drive containerization initiatives using Kubernetes to modernize application architecture

• Build and optimize backend services and APIs, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and data integrity

• Collaborate closely with traders, business stakeholders, and developers to gather requirements and deliver innovative features

• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, PI planning, and cross-location team alignment within Markets

• Ensure code quality and ownership through peer reviews, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and adherence to best practices

• Integrate core systems with third-party services, enabling seamless data exchange across platforms

• Provide responsive first-line support and troubleshooting across development and production environments

• Contribute to front-end improvements using JavaScript and React (a strong advantage, though not required)

• Champion risk awareness and compliance — meeting internal controls, regulatory standards, and secure coding practices

• Foster collaboration across time zones, supporting a culture of shared learning, feedback, and high-performing teamwork

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; 10+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in backend development

• Expert proficiency in C# within large-scale, enterprise-grade systems; solid experience in Java (plus)

• Deep hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and MongoDB, including performance tuning, query optimization, and data modelling

• Strong background in event-driven architectures using RabbitMQ, and building high-performance APIs via gRPC and GraphQL

• Proven experience in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environments, collaborating with global teams across time zones (e.g., Switzerland and Singapore)

• Skilled in cloud-native development on Microsoft Azure, including Docker, Kubernetes, and managed services (App Services, Functions, Service Bus)

• Committed to software excellence – experienced in code reviews, CI/CD, and enforcing engineering best practices

Desirable qualifications:

• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend tooling ( npm/yarn, Webpack) for full-stack contributions

• Experience with WPF for building complex desktop applications

• Background in the financial services sector, with understanding of regulatory, security, and low-latency requirements
