Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and performance-driven Back of House Manager to lead all stockroom and back-of-house operations in a fast-paced, lifestyle and sports-inspired retail environment. This role is accountable for ensuring efficient product flow, inventory accuracy, e-commerce fulfillment, and operational excellence across all BOH activities. As a key member of the store’s leadership team, you will lead and develop the BOH team while partnering closely with the Store Manager and Support Office to ensure company standards are consistently met. While Back of House operations are your primary focus, you will also be expected to support the sales floor and broader store team as needed to deliver an exceptional customer experience and respond to changing business priorities. You will thrive in a fast-moving environment, using strong decision-making, adaptability, and a high sense of urgency to respond to evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Back of House Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members to deliver consistent, accurate, and efficient operational execution
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team environment where employees are supported and encouraged to grow
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and feedback to build team capability and support individual development
  • Support the onboarding and training of new team members
  • Lead by example and promote a culture of accountability, urgency, accuracy, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with the Store Manager and broader Store Leadership team to align BOH priorities with overall business needs

Inventory & Stockroom Operations

  • Take ownership of all day-to-day Back of House and stockroom operations
  • Ensure inbound deliveries are received, processed, labeled, and stored accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain a highly organized, clean, and logically structured stockroom to support efficient product flow
  • Prepare and process outbound transfers in accordance with company standards and timelines
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies to identify root causes and reduce shrink
  • Ensure optimal stock availability to support sales and customer demand
  • Manage store supplies and ensure the team has the resources needed to support daily and weekly operations

E-Commerce & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee daily e-commerce fulfillment, including the accurate and timely picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders
  • Ensure BOH operational KPIs and performance targets are consistently achieved, including accuracy, productivity, fulfillment, inventory, and stockroom standards
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and execution
  • Ensure all BOH processes are executed in line with company policies, procedures, and operational standards
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
  • Demonstrate a proactive and solutions-focused approach when responding to changing business needs and priorities
  • Maintain strong attention to detail while managing multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment

Store Partnership & Customer Support

  • Partner with the Store Leadership team to support overall store performance and business priorities
  • Remain flexible and comfortable stepping onto the sales floor to support customers, drive sales, and assist the team during peak periods or as business needs require
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and contribute to a seamless experience across both Front and Back of House operations
  • Balance Back of House priorities with the needs of the wider store, adapting quickly to changing customer and business demands

Communication & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Communicate regularly with Customer Service, Support Office teams, and other retail locations through Slack, email, and other business communication channels
  • Partner closely with Store Leadership to support overall store performance and operational priorities
  • Maintain awareness of current and upcoming products, launches, and trends to support effective inventory planning and execution
  • Escalate operational issues and risks appropriately while taking ownership of identifying practical solutions

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of stockroom, inventory, warehouse, or distribution centre experience
  • 2+ years of people leadership or supervisory experience
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and develop team members in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, organization, and execution
  • High sense of urgency with the ability to proactively manage changing priorities
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills
  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to understand, monitor, and achieve operational KPIs
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and trust
  • Open to feedback with a genuine willingness to learn and continuously develop
