Job Description
Chef de Partie – Join Our Growing Team at Chop Halifax
Our team is growing again, and we’re looking for the next great culinary leader to join Chop Halifax as a Chef de Partie!
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and experienced leader to help lead our culinary team toward continued success in this ever-evolving industry. The ideal candidate values coaching and leading from the front and understands that maintaining a healthy work/life balance—for both themselves and their team—is essential to a thriving operation.
As Chef de Partie, you are a seasoned leader ready to step into the role of Chef. This is an opportunity to learn best practices from one of Canada’s top hospitality companies, build your business acumen, and continue developing your already-strong leadership skills. You’ll help lead the culinary operations of the restaurant, foster team development, create an engaging and positive atmosphere, and contribute to the restaurant’s overall profitability.
We are a fast-growing brand, with several new store openings scheduled over the next two years. We’re looking for someone committed to being the kind of leader who can eventually run their own kitchen and support us in growing this company together.
Our menu, continuously developed by our Executive Chef, features globally inspired flavors and fresh, high-quality ingredients. Our passion for the culinary arts and hospitality is evident not just in our food, but in our people. Our teams—both in the kitchen and front of house—are made up of individuals dedicated to creating memorable guest experiences. From handcrafted dishes to flawless service, we are focused on excellence in every detail.
Key Responsibilities
As Chef de Partie, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the kitchen team and shaping a culture of excellence. Responsibilities include:
• Leading by example in all aspects of culinary operations—instilling a positive culture, developing leadership, and role-modelling hospitality.
• Taking the lead in hiring culinary team members, including training, scheduling, and onboarding.
• Collaborating with other leaders to ensure daily culinary operations are executed at the highest standard.
• Maximizing long-term profitability through strong leadership, effective mentorship, and smart inventory management using state-of-the-art learning tools.
• Coaching your team to achieve excellence in food quality and consistency while supporting their ongoing development.
• Partnering with Front of House leaders to ensure seamless guest experiences through shared hospitality training.
• Identifying high-potential team members and supporting their growth into future leaders.
Key Requirements
• 1+ years of experience leading culinary teams in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
• Strong business acumen, including knowledge of inventory management, food costs, labour, scheduling, and other operational variables.
• Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others to perform at their best.
• A deep passion for culinary excellence and food quality.
• Energetic, ambitious, and enthusiastic personality.
• Excellent communication and patience under pressure.
• A demonstrated track record of achieving both professional and personal development goals.
Opportunities
As part of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to:
• Gain valuable leadership experience and skill development.
• Advance your career within a rapidly expanding hospitality brand.
• Cultivate your growth by working directly with senior leaders and executive chefs.
• Be considered for leadership roles in new restaurant openings across Canada and the USA.
