In this position...

The Warehouse Supervisor is a front-line operational leader responsible for overseeing the daily movement, storage, and handling of materials across the facility. In this role, you direct a shift team of material handlers and forklift operators to ensure that inbound shipments are unloaded, inventory is accurately recorded and stored, orders are picked and staged, and production lines or outbound docks receive materials on time and without interruption.

Beyond managing daily workflow, the supervisor is directly responsible for maintaining a safe, organized working environment. This includes enforcing OSHA and company safety standards, overseeing pre-shift equipment inspections, maintaining high standards of housekeeping and 5S, auditing inventory transactions in the Warehouse Management System (WMS), and coaching team members to meet quality, accuracy, and productivity goals.

What you'll do...

1. Safety & Fleet Management

• Enforce a zero-incident safety culture per OSHA and EHS policies.
• Maintain pedestrian-equipment separation, exclusion zones, blind-corner horn use, and PPE compliance.
• Oversee daily pre-shift PIV inspections (forklifts, reach trucks, tuggers, pallet jacks); tag out defective equipment immediately.
• Lead containment, investigation, and root-cause analysis for incidents, near-misses, and property damage.

1. Shift Operations & Material Flow

• Assign and direct daily work across receiving, put-away, picking, staging, line delivery, and shipping.
• Monitor dock operations for fast unloading, trailer turnaround, and dock lock/chock compliance to avoid detention charges.
• Coordinate JIT/JIS replenishment to prevent production downtime from parts shortages.
• Run shift stand-up meetings and handovers covering hot parts, system holds, and equipment status.
• Maintain 5S standards across aisles, staging, rack bays, and dock plates.

1. Inventory Control & Quality Assurance

• Oversee receiving, scanning, and bin put-away via WMS/ERP.
• Enforce FIFO rotation and expiration tracking for shelf-life-sensitive goods.
• Support cycle counts; resolve discrepancies and stock variances.
• Partner with QA on material holds, quarantine, containment sorts, and MRB dispositions.
• Audit BOLs, packing slips, ASNs, and label accuracy.

1. People Leadership & Workforce Development

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate material handlers, warehouse technicians, and forklift drivers.
• Conduct onboarding, standard-work training, and PIT certification/recertification.
• Track operator performance against KPIs and SOPs.
• Manage scheduling, overtime, timecards, attendance, and discipline as needed.
• Build team morale, communication, and cross-training across functions.

1. Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

• Track and report shift metrics: dock-to-stock time, pick accuracy, lines per hour, inventory accuracy.
• Use 5-Why, Fishbone, and Kaizen tools to resolve operational defects and scanning errors.
• Eliminate process waste (excess travel, congestion, double handling).
• Collaborate with MP&L, Manufacturing, and Quality to resolve material flow bottlenecks.

You'll have...

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ years of logistics, warehouse supervisory, or material flow experience in a manufacturing setting, including exposure to automated warehouse systems (ASRS/AGV)
• Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, MES, LES, etc.)
• 3+ years supervising teams in a manufacturing environment
• Able to work nights, weekends, and rotating shifts

Even better, you'll have...

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field
• Experience in material handling, warehousing, or inventory management
• Automotive MP&L/logistics experience, including warehousing/logistics planning or automation project implementation
• 2+ years conducting system audits (process, safety)
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, constraint management, and logistics planning principles
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
