We are looking for a Back End Engineer, with solid experience in Java, based in Latin America to work on a short-term project for one of our clients, a hyper-growth fintech company based in Los Angeles, California
Our client´s mission is to make financial advice better and more accessible for everyone. They are building a revolutionary platform for financial advisors and their clients to remove the friction from investing and reduce the barrier to entry into wealth creation and management.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend systems for advisory platform workflows, with an emphasis on Java and Spring Boot services, APIs, data-heavy workflows, and scalable internal systems.
- Build and evolve systems related to onboarding, permissions, account access, compliance-oriented controls, and internal operational workflows.
- Create durable internal tools that help operations teams move faster, reduce manual work, and safely handle repetitive processes.
- Partner across engineering, product, design, compliance, and operations to translate ambiguous business requirements into pragmatic MVP solutions.
Requirements
- Advanced Level of English.
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience building and maintaining production systems in Java and SpringBoot, ideally in business-critical environments.
- Strong API design and service-integration skills, with the ability to work across backend services and system boundaries.
- Advanced SQL skills and strong data intuition, including experience with Postgres, Snowflake, and data-heavy operational workflows.
- Experience working with AWS-hosted distributed systems.
Bonus Points
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related fields.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, including Kafka-based workflows or adjacent asynchronous processing patterns.
- Experience investigating production issues, debugging edge cases, and reasoning through multi-system failures across distributed services.
- Experience with financial systems, advisor platform workflows, RBAC or PBAC permission systems, or compliance-sensitive operational software.
- Familiarity with TypeScript, React, or GraphQL, as parts of the product require coordinated cross-stack changes.
