Accountabilities:

As a Back End Developer – Technical Lead, you will own the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of enterprise-grade backend systems. You will play a key role in technical decision-making, ensuring platforms are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with business goals while guiding engineering teams toward best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing end-to-end backend architectures focused on scalability, resilience, performance, and security.
• Defining service boundaries, data ownership models, integration strategies, and communication patterns.
• Making architectural decisions across modular monoliths, microservices, event-driven systems, and other architecture approaches.
• Creating technical documentation including architecture decision records, high-level designs, low-level designs, and data flow diagrams.
• Developing and maintaining high-performance backend applications using Python and FastAPI.
• Building secure RESTful APIs, asynchronous services, and scalable microservices.
• Designing solutions for background processing, scheduling, caching, and high-volume workloads.
• Applying clean architecture principles, SOLID practices, design patterns, and test-driven development approaches.
• Designing and optimizing relational and NoSQL database solutions, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and migration strategies.
• Building distributed systems with fault tolerance, scalability, and reliability through mechanisms such as retries, circuit breakers, idempotency, and load balancing.
• Implementing event-driven architectures using messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Amazon SQS.
• Supporting cloud-native application development, containerization, CI/CD automation, and deployment processes.
• Collaborating with DevOps and SRE teams to improve monitoring, observability, and production reliability.
• Acting as a technical owner for backend platforms while mentoring engineers and driving engineering standards.
• Partnering with product, architecture, QA, and business teams to deliver effective technical solutions.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a senior backend engineering professional with strong technical leadership capabilities and extensive experience designing large-scale software systems. You should have a proven ability to make architectural decisions, solve complex engineering challenges, and guide teams in delivering reliable applications.

Required qualifications and skills:

• 10+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on production experience with FastAPI.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and backend development frameworks.
• Strong experience designing RESTful APIs, asynchronous programming models, and distributed backend services.
• Extensive knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, or similar technologies.
• Deep understanding of backend architecture patterns, object-oriented design, SOLID principles, GoF design patterns, Domain-Driven Design, and clean architecture.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and fault-tolerant design.
• Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale backend platforms.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment practices.
• Strong understanding of API security concepts including OAuth2, JWT, authentication, and authorization.
• Experience with Git, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and modern software engineering practices.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience modernizing monolithic applications into microservices architectures.
• Experience designing event-driven or streaming-based systems.
• Knowledge of API gateways, service meshes, rate limiting, and API lifecycle management.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Exposure to observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry.
• Previous experience as a Senior Backend Engineer, Technical Lead, Lead Backend Developer, or Solution Architect.
