Primary Purpose:

Tasked with the safe, efficient, and economic operation of the Intermodal terminal through effective supervision of railroad and contracted personnel.

Principal Duties:

  • Supervises Assistant Managers, TCU clerks, and contractor employees to ensure they meet service, safety, and cost standards established by Norfolk Southern Management.
  • Consults with the Division/Terminal Superintendents, Agents, Mechanical Department, Service Control Center, the Intermodal Traffic Delivery Group, Intermodal Service Desk and others to ensure the freight is unloaded, properly billed, loaded, and released on schedule.
  • Works with IT and Systems personnel to correct Intermodal information system problems or misuse by terminal personnel.
  • Assists the Division Manager in developing service, safety, and cost standards that the facility operates under and provides supervision to ensure these standards are complied with by facility personnel and drayage companies.
  • Ensures proper handling of shipments covered by United States Customs Regulations and for the handling of hazardous material in accordance with Federal Regulations.
