With a strong presence in North Africa and partnerships with globally recognized brands such as Eaton and Bodet, the company is now strategically expanding into East Africa, beginning with Kenya as a key entry market.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly driven, entrepreneurial, and technically grounded professional to lead our client’s market entry and expansion in Kenya. It is a market-building mandate. The successful candidate will be responsible for starting operations from scratch, mapping the Kenyan light current and security systems landscape, identifying viable projects, establishing contractor and consultant networks, and positioning the company as a competitive solutions provider. The role requires both technical understanding and commercial intelligence, with structured reporting back to headquarters on market realities, penetration progress, opportunities, and risks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Entry & Penetration Strategy
Conduct structured market research to understand the Light Current and Security Systems landscape in Kenya.
Identify target sectors (Hospitals, Malls, Hotels, Universities, Schools, Commercial Buildings, Infrastructure projects).
Develop and execute a clear market penetration plan with defined milestones.
Analyze competitor positioning, pricing models, and distribution channels.
2. Project Scouting & Pipeline Development
Conduct daily field visits to active construction sites and upcoming developments.
Map consultants, MEP contractors, developers, and project managers influencing procurement decisions.
Identify early-stage projects and position the company for specification inclusion.
Build and maintain a structured project pipeline database with probability tracking and expected timelines.
3. Business Development & Technical Sales
Promote Light Current solutions including Fire Alarm Systems, CCTV, Access Control, Public Address, Structured Cabling, and related technologies.
Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to consultants and contractors.
Prepare technical proposals, BOQs alignment, and preliminary solution recommendations.
Support tender participation and follow-ups.
Provide clear, data-backed insights that inform HQ’s investment and expansion decisions.
Recommend adjustments to pricing, positioning, or partnership strategy based on field findings.
4. Relationship & Brand Establishment
Build strong networks with consultants, contractors, architects, developers, and government stakeholders.
Represent the company professionally in site meetings and industry forums.
Lay the groundwork for long-term distributor or partnership models where necessary.
Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in Light Current Systems, Security Systems, or related technical sales.
Proven experience in field sales, project scouting, or construction-based B2B sales.
Experience working with consultants and contractors in Kenya’s construction sector is mandatory.
Demonstrated ability to build markets or grow new territories is a strong advantage.
Location & Mobility
Must be currently residing in Kenya.
Willing and able to conduct frequent site visits across Nairobi and other counties.
