Job Description

We are seeking a B2 Assistant Finance Manager on a Temporary Promotion or Temporary Level Transfer basis within the Financial Reporting and Planning Team. The Assistant Finance Manager supports Finance Business Partners in providing strategic accounting and financial management advice to senior leaders across the organisation.

You will support stakeholders in accurately forecasting future spending plans and producing the Annual Report and Accounts. You will also lead on the collation, analysis and production of financial information for Senior Leaders to support effective decision making around financial sustainability. The Assistant Finance Manager post will also play a key role in the analysis of business cases across both staffing and non-staffing areas.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly review and scrutiny of workforce forecasting movements, obtaining explanations and providing critical information ensuring accurate multi-year financial forecasts.
  • Provide advice and guidance across the organisation on costing scenarios required whilst business areas look to understand operating model requirements.
  • Deliver robust month end financial analysis across cost centres and divisions, including reviewing and challenging forecasts and management information.
  • Provide and develop financial information for monthly Deputy Director meetings to support review and challenge of financial performance and enabling long-term financial sustainability.
  • Provide support and guidance to Oracle Finance and Purchase to Pay users, including the raising of Purchase Orders, invoice receipting, and ensuring the prompt and accurate payment of invoices.
  • Respond to Scottish Government commissions and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, often within challenging timescales, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Authorise monthly ePC transactions and produce Payment Performance reports, working closely with Procurement colleagues to monitor, control, and optimise ePC expenditure.
  • Lead assigned Annual Report and Accounts tasks, contributing to the successful delivery of the external audit and year end accounts process.

Duration of Temporary Opportunity
This opportunity is for 6 months.

Hybrid Working
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week, and we offer a range of flexible working options, depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices.There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location.
