Jardeg is currently recruiting a B-Pressure & CWB Hand Welder Journeyperson (Hand Welder) to join the SUNCOR Firebag Maintenance team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a permanent position on a 14/14 night shift schedule. Start date within the next couple of weeks.

Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders, clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch and weld parts together.

Minimum Responsibilities:

  • Be skillful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications
  • Have a working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures
  • Comprehend drawings and develop layout patterns for projects and calculate quantities of materials
  • Have a thorough knowledge of metals, arc electrodes, welding gases and gas welding filler rods
  • Recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area
  • Have a working knowledge of mathematics calculations pertaining to the welding trade
  • Have a working knowledge of the required codes
  • Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades
  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry
  • Have a valid CWB in the process's being used
  • Have a valid B-pressure ticket in the processes being used if required

Safety tickets:

  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation). BSO & OSSA Regional Orientation also considered an equivalent.

  • ESC Approved Confined Space Entry & Monitor
  • ESC Elevated Work Platform/Ariel Work Platform
  • H2S Awareness via Energy Safety Canada (if no ESC H2S Alive) via Energy Safety Canada
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness Basic via Energy Safety Canada
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Intermediate - via Energy Safety Canada
  • Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)Training certification (Approved providers to provide training: AT Safety, Air Extreme, ACTI, CICT, HSE, ALTTF, Advantage Learning , M.E.T.I., Leavitt Training, United Safety)
  • Overhead Crane

Welding Tickets: (must be current and within 6 months)

  • F3/F4 – Carbon SMAW
  • F6/F5 – Stainless TIG
  • F6 – Stainless GTAW
  • F43 – Inconel
  • CWB SMAW
  • B-pressure
