Azure Support Engineer (Contract)

Remote (US Based)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Azure Support Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on experience in managing and supporting Azure cloud services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of web application hosting technologies, cloud-native architectures, and networking/security best practices. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our Azure-hosted applications and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Azure Services Support

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot key Azure services including App Service, SQL Database, Key Vault, and Azure Monitor.
  • Implement service improvements, scaling strategies, and automation for better performance and cost optimization.

Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis

  • Respond promptly to system incidents, outages, or performance issues.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis (RCA) and post-mortem documentation for critical incidents.
  • Implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence of issues.

Web Application Hosting

  • Support deployment and performance of applications built on PHP/Laravel and Node/Vue frameworks.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure compatibility.

Networking & Security

  • Manage Azure networking components such as VNets, NSGs, Application Gateways, and Load Balancers.
  • Ensure secure access and data protection via Key Vault, certificates, and Azure RBAC policies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot SSL/TLS certificates and DNS configurations.

Monitoring & Optimization

  • Leverage Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics for observability and diagnostics.
  • Provide performance tuning recommendations and ensure service health.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as a technical liaison between infrastructure teams, developers, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates, incident reports, and status communications in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
  • Proficient in core Azure services: App Service, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Azure Monitor
  • Experience with web app hosting technologies (PHP/Laravel, Node.js, Vue.js).
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, and firewalls in cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of security principles, identity and access management, and SSL certificate management
  • Proven ability to perform troubleshooting under pressure and lead incident resolution and RCA efforts.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-400, AZ-500) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience in scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, or Azure CLI).
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and incident/change management frameworks.

Contract Details:

  • Full-time ~40 hours per week
  • Contract length 12 months minimum with potential for renewal
  • Work setup Remote; must be authorized to work in the U.S.
